benefits of christian therapy:

Christian therapy offers a holistic approach by addressing mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs. This approach aims at treating the whole person from a faith-based lens.

Christian therapy provides hope and healing that’s centered on Christ and uses Biblical truths to work through the struggles and stressors of life. It can be especially helpful for people seeking support that aligns with their values.

Christian therapy can incorporate spiritual practices like prayer, and facilitate personal growth through the lens of scripture, leading to a deeper sense of peace and connection with faith.

Have questions about christian therapy?

Q&A
  • Christian therapy differs from traditional therapy by actively incorporating faith-based principles and scripture into the therapeutic process, viewing spiritual wellness as an integral part of healing. While traditional therapy generally focuses on psychological and behavioral interventions without directly referencing religious beliefs.

Christian therapy is often thought of as being more holistic than traditional psychotherapy on its own. It acknowledges the spiritual needs we have and includes these values in the treatment process. For example, a person struggling with anxiety may explore what scripture says about anxiety. God cares about us and wants us to give all our cares and worries to Him (1 Peter 5:7). We may also explore how God views anxiety and the other things we struggle with, and his desire and infinite ability to restore us, take care of all our needs, and comfort us in even our darkest moments.

  • Christian therapy can help with all of life’s trials, challenges, and hardships. From depression and anxiety, to fear and trauma, to grief and loss, God is there as the true healer and comforter.

Did you know that there were people in the Bible who struggled with mental health issues? These challenges aren’t new or surprising to God. God is our provider, comforter, refuge, and protector. He’s the great physician and healer and brings peace in even the most stressful situations. I know it doesn’t always feel this way, and we may struggle to understand why certain things are happening to us. In these times we try to remember that there’s nothing too hard for God, and He loves you.

  • Therapy sessions are tailored to each individual’s unique needs. My goal is to ensure that you feel comfortable and safe during sessions. Depending on one’s needs and/or desires, Christian therapy sessions may include prayer, Biblical teachings, and utilizing scripture to address issues.

There are some similarities to other therapy modalities, including actively listening with empathy to your cares and concerns, providing feedback, suggestions, and guidance on challenges, and exploring how different parts of our lives (possibly childhood and family challenges) have impacted where we are today. Christian therapy goes a step further though by discussing God’s plans and purpose for our lives, and how all His plans are designed for our good and not to harm us (Jeremiah 29:11).

Together we’ll work together to get through the tough stuff, through faith, with God leading the way. He truly can provide comfort for all of the issues you may be facing. After all, He knows your needs far better than I ever will. You’re not alone on this journey.
